Message from the President

Ever since I first ventured into the import world 40 years ago, I’ve managed a broad range of projects as a single business entity, with the aim of connecting overseas companies and Japanese companies.

Times have since changed and so have the key points in business, but one thing has remained unchanged: my desire to always support companies and regions targeting revitalization through the expansion of business with foreign countries and to contribute to the growth of and enhanced competitiveness of the Japanese economy.

With the TPP and the EPA between Japan and Europe, the situation surrounding our country is undergoing major changes. In particular, Japan is facing significant changes in terms of socioeconomic infrastructure such as decreasing birthrate, aging population, and depopulation. If we look outside Japan, particularly at emerging markets, populations and income levels are rising sharply. In view of this, we must learn from the vitality of these countries as a way for our country to develop economic growth.

The adoption of measures on a national level is becoming an urgent matter.

Under such circumstances, JAIBO was founded to meet the demands of many business persons. JAIBO is an organization whose role is to warn the many companies and individuals that are still ignoring the globalization trends of the critical situation, and to offer them solutions.

If we look at the current situation, tariff-free is now an irreversible trend. Unless we realize this and devise ways to deal with the influx of goods, services and human resources from abroad, one day we’ll simply wake up and find ourselves completely engulfed in the trend and at a loss.

In addition, as mentioned earlier, Japan’s population is steadily decreasing and the market size is getting smaller. In other words, businesses and human resources that only turn their eyes on the domestic market cannot contribute to the growth of Japan. That is specifically why globalization of each and every Japanese is of the utmost urgency.

Japan was originally said to be a self-sufficient, isolated cultural region. This demonstrates how rich Japan’s nature was, but because of its rich environment, Japanese people had a tendency to dislike going abroad. In fact, only 24% of Japanese people have a passport; that’s 1 in 4 people.

If more Japanese people were to go abroad, they’d probably discover business chances they wouldn’t have noticed existed had they stayed in Japan. In addition, most Japanese people aren’t aware that the mere fact of saying that they are Japanese allows them to have to upper hand over business from other countries when doing business.

Japan is the world’s third economic powerhouse and ranks 11th as far as market size is concerned. As we all know, Japan is also by far the most trusted nation in the world in terms of financial aspects. Japan’s unique culture is a subject of great interest to many countries and if we look at the quality of goods produced in Japan, the country is undeniably among the top levels in the world. For that reason, Japan would be losing so much by not using its brand value with the confidence that it deserves.

Japan is the most trusted country in the world.

In fact, Japanese citizens can enter 191 countries out of the 196 countries without even a visa.

No other citizens in the world have the travel freedom that the Japanese have. We should use this to our advantage.

JAIBO’s mission is, through vigorous trade between countries, to correct economic imbalances and decrease inequality across countries to create a meaningful society and contribute to economic growth. Nothing would be more satisfying than to know that JAIBO has contributed to the creation of as many global-minded Japanese people as possible and has helped in the process of solving inequality between races and countries.
